Thomas occupation was a Earthernware Manufacture he owned the High Southwick Pottery in Sunderland, he Donated a
Jug to the British Museum.
At the time he owned the "High Southwick Potter" A pottery factory was set up by Thomas & Ralph Snowball
called HIGH SOUTHWICK POTTERY probably employing no more than fifteen people in about 1846, they specialized in the
making of Sunderland Lustreware , Jugs, Frog Mugs and Punch bowls, they also operated from the Sheepfolds Warehouse
in Monkwearmouth, which was not a pottery, but a depository for wares including many from Staffordshire, which were
awaiting decoration.
The business finished in 1885 when it was brought out by William Ball together with all its copper plates and
moulds which he then put to his own use.
Ralph Snowball was said to have been the last man in the north east who could apply the by then old fashioned
mottled pink lustre decoration. A Sunderland type Iron orange Lustre jug made by Snowballs pottery, Monkwearmouth
was presented by Thomas Snowball to the British Museum in 1880.
